Where does America’s toxic electronic waste end up?// Dead electronics make up the world’s fastest-growing source of waste. Despite pledges to responsibly recycle this waste here in the United States, domestic recyclers are exporting hazardous items to countries with fewer environmental and workplace safety regulations. A recent investigation shows that most of them are headed to the outskirts of Hong Kong.

This interactive investigation was nominated for best explanatory reporting at the Online News Association's 2016 OJA ceremony and earned an Emmy (Pacific Northwest) for public affairs reporting.
